How to beat the Sunday Scaries

Mindfulness, Productivity, Wellness

The Sunday Scaries are real, and they can hit you like a ton of bricks. If you’ve ever found yourself feeling anxious or stressed out on a Sunday night, you’re not alone.

In fact, a study conducted by the American Psychological Association found that 36 percent of Americans experience the Sunday Scaries on a regular basis.

There are a number of factors that can contribute to the Sunday Scaries, including looming deadlines at work, upcoming exams, or even just the dread of having to go back to work or school after a relaxing weekend.

What are sunday scaries

The Sunday Scaries are the anxious or stressed feelings people often experience on Sunday night. The term was first coined in 2005 by Dr. Michael Breus, a sleep specialist, and has since gained popularity as a way to describe the feeling of anxiety that can come from anticipating the start of a new week.

For some people, the Sunday Scaries can be so debilitating that they struggle to get out of bed on Monday morning.

Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do to beat the Sunday Scaries

But whatever the cause, there are some things you can do to combat the Sunday Scaries and start your week off on the right foot.

1. Get organized

One of the best ways to beat the Sunday Scaries is to get organized and start your week off on the right foot. Make a list of all the things you need to do in the coming week and take some time on Sunday night to plan out how you’re going to tackle them. You’ll feel more prepared and less overwhelmed when Monday morning rolls around.

2. Exercise

Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and improve your mood. Even if you don’t have time for a full workout, taking a brisk walk or doing some yoga can help get rid of those Sunday Scaries.

3. Unwind with relaxation techniques

Relaxation techniques like deep breathing and meditation can help ease anxiety and calm your nerves. Spend 10-15 minutes practicing one of these techniques before bed on Sunday night and see how much it helps!

4. Connect with friends and family

Spending time with loved ones is a great way to chase away the blues. Plan a fun activity for Sunday night or reach out to someone you haven’t talked to in awhile and catch up over the phone. You’ll be reminded of all the people who care about you and who are there for you—no matter what day it is.

5. Avoid caffeine

Caffeine may give you a temporary energy boost, but it can also make anxiety worse in the long run. So if you’re feeling jittery on Sunday night, try avoiding coffee, tea, or energy drinks altogether.

6. Limit screen time

Staring at screens all day can make anxiety worse, so try to limit your screen time as much as possible on Sundays. Take some time offline to read, spend time outside, or just unplug from technology altogether for awhile. You’ll feel more relaxed and refreshed come Monday morning.

7. Get enough sleep

It’s important to get enough sleep every night, but it’s especially important when trying to beat the theSundayScaries.

Aim for seven to eight hours per night—your body and mind will thank you for it!

Conclusion:

The Sunday Scaries don’t have to ruin your weekend—or your week ahead! By following these scientifically-proven tips, you can nip stress in the bud and start your week off feeling calm, collected, and ready to take on whatever comes your way.”
